Helicore Orchestrals - recent experience?

Hi,
I'm just wondering if anybody has bought and played on Helicore Orchestral medium or heavy strings *recently*.
I wanted to try these (heavies), but have seen posts in TB about bad experiences due to manufacture inconsistency, maybe quality control issues with these strings.
Any recent experiences? Hopefully they cleared up the problem?
Thanks,
Jim

I have been playing Helicore Orchestral Medium for two weeks recently. I got them from a friend who bought a hybrid Czech Strunal bass and it was strung with those. He plays pizz only, so I traded those Helicores for my old spiros.

I tried them on two basses I did not like them at all.
G too bright. I have also Hybrid Medium and Pizzicato Medium, the G seems to be the same in all sets! Too bright for arco.
A and D are fine.
E also bright, but not so much as G.
The E might get darker over time. I do not believe G, this is SO bright!

After two weeks I returned to my old set because I lost any joy playing this bright G and E. I did not have patience to wait if they get darker some day. Even new Spiro G sounds more dark then the Helicore Orchestra one. This is so weird that I believe I could get a defective one.

I'd get Evahs or Belcantos first. MUCH better sound, feel and exceptional bowing.
