I.D. these guts...

these are on a friend's bass and he has no idea what they are or where they came from....

D and G are unwound gut. E and A are metal wound/gut core...from what I can tell.

the yellow (and maybe even the red) seem to have a very fine black spiral wrap on top of the color winding. no ball ends....just knots.

Those would be Labellas,which are not all that good,the wound A&E strings winding is bad to seperate,,and the G&D s develope hairs,,,not the best guts out there, but ok if you keep a eye on them ,,

my friend has had them on there forever....

I like the feel of them. what's a better choice in that price range?

sorry, should have stated that differently,

what are some other choices in the $250 range.

I like the diameter and feel of these guts, but are there other choices, gut or non-gut with similar qualities?
