That's far and away the best dissertation on strings that I've ever seen. Even though its focus is on the smaller instruments there is much wisdom there.

And I love the casual sidebar on regional playing preferences:

"Our most popular string is the medium tension, but we sell a fair number of forte strings in France and southern Europe, while our dolce strings are more popular in the UK,' Hansen reveals."

Makes me want to see sales distribution charts for DB strings worldwide.
