Jargar strings

Hi al.
For those interested, Jargar strings are made in Denmark, and are very popular with the cellists.
They make strings for violin, viola and bass too.

They now have a website!:

http://www.jargar-strings.com

Enjoy,
François

P.S. I'm not affiliated with Jargar Strings in any way.

I find Jargar Forte G & D to be the best hybrid strings I've played in several years!

I have a problem with the G's.
Recently tried the Dolce, Medium and Forte, and all show the same behaviour.
I get some dead spots at several places on the string. The tone is dying at those places.
Do you get the same thing?

No Francois, I would say no. The tone is smooth and even across the string. The only complaint is that their life is maybe a bit shorter than other brands..
Sorry I really have no idea about where your problem can come from

Thanks.
I've emailed them about this.

What about the E&A? Do you use something different? Have you also tried the other Jargar gauges?

Thanks!

Oh, cool!!!! The Fortes are my favorite strings, Jargar pretty much ended my string quest.

Are you playing pizz on them?
How do you like the A&E for pizz?
Found them too muddy. (to my ear their tone is ambiguous)

I play about 70% pizz. I really like the pizz sound of them on my bass, I haven't tried them on my EUB yet. No, I don't find them muddy at and the E&A are very clear, I have a hard time describing the tone other then melodic and round. One thing is that these strings are dynamic sensitive, so if you play down by the bridge you can get a punchy jazz sound, up on the fingerboard and with a more "classical" pizz technique and it's straight up cuba time. It did take me a while to get use to the volume thing that comes with using a darkish arco string for pizz, which is you might not think you are very loud right up on the bass but step back 8-10 steps and it's very different story. I can also still pizz harmonics too with these strings, granted the harmonics aren't as loud as with Corellis, supperflexables or Spiros, but I can still get them out.

You say they are too muddy, this is on EUB right? Is this only when plugged in or are they too muddy unplugged as well?
