jargar varieties

I've had Jargar Fortes on my bass and liked them very much. I played them until they were lifeless. I'm thinking of trying the mediums, or the dolces. Can anyone with first hand experience compare and contrast the different gauges of these strings?

I play mostly arco. I'm pretty confident I'll be happy with them for that. I'm more interested in the pizz angle.

Hi.
How long did you play them before they went lifeless?

The lowest tension you go, the less sustain you get with the Jargars. However, the Fortes were much too muddy for me on the bottom strings; pitch definition ambiguous. The mediums and dolces are better there, IMO.

I think I had them on for about 12 months. There were on and off 3 times which can't be good for the life of a string.

I had the same complaint, i.e. the E and A -muddiness. I don't mind sacrificing a little sustain. I'm more concerned that the pizz volume is going to be significantly less with the lighter gauges. I think the output was good on the E/A forte gauge but -as you say- ambiguous pitchwise. I loved the G and D on all counts though.
