I've used Jazzers since I started playing the bass. On my first plywood bass and now on a solid bass. I really like them. They have lots of sustain. And sound good out front through my contra amp. I have recently bit the bullet and decided to learn to bow. The jazzers are frustratingly poor for the bow. I have this very day put on a set of Anima's . While they are easier to bow I find that they seem to be harder to play. The action or tension seems higher. The sound is very different.Do they need a period of 'breaking in'?

You know, I completely disagree. I'm no arco expert, but have used a lot of strings and don't find them particularly un-bow friendly. They aren't as easy to deal with as say flexicores or helicore orchestrals, but their not so different than other hybrid type strings that I've used.

If I was in a symphony, I'd use different strings, but for the amount and complexity of bowing that I do as a jazz player they're totally usable.

Just my experience.
