Leaving an E string broken?

As I was tuning up for practice tonight, my E string broke: pop, the string went slack, and I saw that the winding had unraveled between the nut and the peg.

Very surprising and displeasing as the instrument is only a few months old and hardly been played, the strings likewise (steel, don't know the brand). Anyway, I am leaving on vacation tomorrow morning so no chance to deal with this. Will there be any harm to the setup by leaving the bass with a slack E string for a week?

Not unless it's really flimsy.
