Question

I am an arranger and semi-professional bass player. I am on my way to buy a 4 strings EUB model Allegro from BSX Bass,PA. I need some feedback about what would be the best set of strings to play mostly latin, latin jazz and standards.
Thank you for your help

The "best string set" is a very subjective matter.
Ask ten bassists and you'll probably get ten different answers.
Depends on your instrument and pickup system.
Depends on your taste.
Depends on your budget.
What kind of tone are you looking for?
Long sustain, or short?
Dark or bright?
Bowable or not?
Steel, gut or synthetic?

See the picture?

Carlos - If you're talking about bands like Mongo, Poncho Sanchez, Eddie Palmeri, etc., most EUB players are using Tomastik Spirocores. My latin jazz hero, Victor Venegas, a veteran of Mongo's band, does. E-mail me if you have questions. Buena suerte.

Don thank you for your replay. A a matter of fact, I used thomastik for many years, not even knowing they were that good. ( At that time I have no others, so I had not something to compare with). Your advise matches the general criteria. Will keep in touch
