Looking for real aggressive strings

I've been looking for a real aggressive sounding steel set of strings that is on the bright side. What do all of you fine gents suggest?

Oh man, I finally got to play some Starks recently. Very gnarly. I can see why folks get hooked on them. I don't know if I could handle them for any length of time. Mittels are still pretty aggressive to my ears.

La Bella Deep Talkin Bass are pretty bright strings, growly and in your face, but lower tension

+1. I played them for several years, and may go back to them at some point. If you go that way, allow time for your fingers/arms to get used to the punishment - you get used to it over time.

Dirty little secret. I put my old set on my Cleveland last night even though I said I wasn't going to. It is HUGE! Oh man. I played for several hours and my fingers are hamburger again. I may not keep them on as my hands don't like them either but what a sound....

That E string is stupid good.

That's what did it for me! Never ever heard an E like that. I've toyed with the idea of Starks from time to time. Maybe I need to hit the gym and give 'em a go.

I'd love to hear more input from former and current Starks Sufferers.

Now that we've completely hijacked this thread...

I'm going to practice with them tonight. I've got a session tomorrow nite and a gig on Friday. I'm going to try to leave them on through that. If I don't make it I'm probably keeping the E and putting the Reds back on the rest. That E kills me.

Oh yeah.

Edit; Wow, I just searched TB on "starks" and found a cool thread that goes back awhile, very detailed info on DURRL's experiences with the String Of Doom, from the moment he put 'em on. To my surprise, I even discovered that I played Starks at some time in the previous year. Can't imagine how I forgot that.

It's probably fodder for a separate thread, but I'd like to hear from some of the luthiers regarding their thoughts on putting very high tension strings like the Starks on a double bass.

Yup. Many of the best recordings I've ever made have been with the Starks on one bass or another. I still miss that E when I detune.

Ugh, me either. I know my poor fingers will never forget them.

When I was playing my Christopher carved, I kept Spirocore Starks on it until I sold it for my current bass. Killer strings! They have such a huge sounding fundamental. They are a lot easier to hear from a players perspective than most strings out there. I miss having them, but the bass I am playing now has too thin a top for the heavy tension.
