Lyon guts

I've seen a couple people talking about these on another thread, so I decided to look them up. The first page that google linked to was this one:

http://www.gamutstrings.com/Merchant...ory_Code=2LYON

I figured that those are pretty cheap for gut strings. The scale length on them is 48 inches, which is right for double bass (I had to be sure). Then I delved a little deeper into the website, and I found this:

http://www.gamutstrings.com/Merchant...ory_Code=4BASS

Am I missing something here? Are these the same strings, just not tied at the end? Or are they something else? That is really confusing to me. I mean, if they are the same on the first page as the full sets they are selling, you could spend about $70 and tie them off yourself and get the same set that's going for $470 on the other page!

Am I anywhere close in my reasoning, or is something going over my head?

With the choice of colours, they're most likely to be harp strings. If you look at the gauge, the thickest is 1.28 which is pretty damn thin for a gut G...

EDIT:

DIG IN! The Gamut Guts thread.

Yeah, I didn't really think about them being so thin. For some reason I thought the guts I have on now are a lot smaller than they actually are. Then again, I only use the D and G, so I haven't seen the giant E in a while.

I figured they were harp strings with them being dyed, but how cool would some black guts look with some Obligatos!
