mittels?

newbie question.. what is meant my 'mittels'? is that a guage, and if so - is it light or heavy or what? thanks!

It translates as medium or middle. With strings it's medium gauge or tension.

"Mittel" is German, as RD said, for "middle" or "medium".

Thomastik Spirocore strings are made in Vienna, Austria, and so that is how they describe their medium gauge. Light is "Weich", heavy is "Stark"
