My strings are too far off the neck!

It is impossible to hold any note up in higher positions..
Should I find another bridge? The bridge I currently have is way to big for the bass I have, it's a piece of junk and i'm sure it's a replacement.

any help would be nice!

Take your bass to a qualified luthier/repairman. It's quite possible that your bridge can be modified and adjusted to give you better action. If it needs to be replaced, let him make that call.
