Need,some advice

Hey everyone,

I am playing a solo in a masterclass on Tuesday night and involves me to be playing in solo tuning. Is it "safe" to just tune up a whole step, granted it is a little late to buy solo strings? I am just a little scared that the tail piece wire might snap given the extra tension.

Thanks, you guys have been really awesome on this forum.

Rob.

Oh one more thing. I am currently using and in love with Pirastro Permants.

The strings themselves might not recover well from the over-stretch.

Your profile seems to indicate you're primarily an arco player.

You may want to get a set of Jargar Dolces (green silk).
They are thin enough for solo-tuning but work weel at orchestra pitch.

I've read very nice comments on the arco qualities of Jargar strings.

Just my $0.02!

P.S. Their tone is quite different than Permanents though!

I would not stretch Permanents. They feel tight at their normal tension already.

I agree with Francois on the Jargar issue because I seem to remember that they need very little break-in.
