New Kolstein string

Hello,
Just read in the 2xbasslist about a new Kolstein string soon to be released. It's supposed to be a Perlon core string with the growling sustain of spirocore but with a rich and mellow bowed tone. Does anybody know anything about this string? I have sent an email to Barrie but due to time lag, I guess he has not read it yet.

I liked the arco quality of the Varicors but found them to dull when playing pizz.

regards Oystein-Norway

I think they must be the old version. I bought mine in 98 I guess. Have they been modified since then?

Barrie has been constantly improving them.
However, if you don't rename or release the "improved" string under a new name, I think this can be confusing for customers, as they don't know about the changes and, worse, may end up with a string that doesn't sound the same as the one they bought a year or two before, and may dislike it.
I'm going to try these new perlon core strings for sure!
