Some of you might be interested in those new nylon string. They have been developped to be a real alternative to gut strings and are used by Nicolas Dubouchet a French "slapmachine".
Slapping is not my "cup of tea", but as the strings are not pricy (50 € + shipping, as far as I know), I'll maybe give them a try.
