Nylon/Tynex wound gut strings

I just put a Lenzner "Jazz" D&G on my bass today and the D string of this set is made just like the old Golden Spirals were - meaning I really dig this D string.

The Lenzner "Jazz" gut set seems to only be available in Europe - which is where the ones I got second-hand came from. The E&A are silver-plated copper wound, the D is nylon-wound but gut-color, and the G is plain gut in a relatively light gauge. I'd like to find a nylon/tynex wound G string.

Anway, anyone know if the LaBella Golden Tones have a nylon-wound G string still? I know the Pirastro Pizzicato D&G are nylon-wound, but the G is $140.

Thanks.

$140 for the G Pizzicato!? Holy crap.. just get a medium Lyon gut and you'll be good to go.

BTW, from Lemur:
" La Bella Golden Tone G
La Bella Golden Tone G
Gut core with Nylon wrapping.
First String Tunes to G
In Stock"

I've tried all of the above over the years and here are my impressions: The Labella G was OK but the D was quite floppy, an unbalanced tension between the two. The Pirastro Pizzicato G was a nice string, the Ds tension was good but it had an enormous diameter and choked up (at least on my bass) on many notes. It's been years since I had a Golden Spiral, but I seem to remember that D being kind of loose too. It's probably because you need to start with a somewhat thinner core than an ordinary plain D, and the tynex winding doesn't add as much tension as a metal wrap would. It might be different on your bass of course. It would be great if more brands of this type of string were available. I once asked Dan Larson about it and he sort of sneered.

The nylon-wound Lenzner D is nice - kinda fat diameter but I am used to that. It has a bit brighter sound than a plain gut D.

I might spring for the LaBella and see. I am good on gut G strings right now though, might wait till I actually need one.

Of course, I go thru G strings the fastest, so a nylon-wound one might be cool.

Do you have any gauge measurements for these strings? The D and G in particular.

Again about these strings

What's the matter with this thread ? Is it dead ? What about those strings now ? The nylon-wound Lenzner D in particular interests me. (On my bass right now : plain gut D & G lenzner).
(Sorry for my english, I'm French).
