original strings ??

I have a 1982 Englehart m-1 and i would like to know if anyone can tell me what strings came on it, I do know they were gut and at least the E was steel wound.
any help would be appreciated.

The factory strings on Engels are just cheap super sensitive red labels or something along those lines. Not guts.

Why do you ask? The stock strings are usually the first thing to get tossed in the garbage. Get some better ones.

I'm looking for something other than steel for bluegrass
but i need the most volume possible.
Do you have any recomendations.
I'm getting desperate.

Maybe you should try nylons or guts.
