Plain Gut String users ?

For those of you who use plain Gut strings without the wrapped A or E string, I was wondering what the advantages/disadvantages are of a plain A vs. wrapped.

Thanks!!

One simple issue is the thickness of the string. A plain A is going to be a fair bit thicker than a wound A.

Another thing is the clarity of the sound. A plain "A" will not have the same attack and center to the sound. It will be more thumpy. It really depends on what you want.

Thanks for the information. It sounds like I am much better off with a wound A.
