Prastro Wondertone (Ultra-Sensitive)

I'm only trying to discover why this old string I have,

labeled "E (IV)" & "orchestra tuning" on the package and "O 4" on the ball...(black silk top and ball end)

is long enough for a 60" string length?....is it as I suspect...
a string for an extension? How are "extension" strings labeled today?

Thanks.....foil...

These strings are discontinued since a long time. (and replaced by Chromcors, which are much better, IMHO)
Did you measure it?
That should answer your own question.

Francois:
I believe Wondertone double bass strings became Jazzers.
Not sure if the strings were any different.
Pirastro now has a new violin/viola string named Wondertone.

Hi Martin.
I know the Ultra-Sensitives very well.
(I still have a few old ones too)
They're Chromcor ancesters; a full-core steel string.
Nothing in common with Jazzers.

I may be wrong, but decades ago, I think "Wondertone" was written on all Pirastro strings pouches of any brand.
It was kind of a trademark for their smooth tone.

...five of these...

...I ended up with five of these "extension" E strings...
SOLID CORE....really long...over 60" in length...Do you think
any player with an extension would ever be interested in
trying or using such a string?

thanks.....
