Presto (Eurosonic) Light or Ultralight

Hi, has anyone tried these newer lighter gauges of Presto strings?

I'm interested in how they compare with Rotosound Superbe, Innovation Rockabilly and Weedwackers.

On this side of the pond, they're sold under the Eurosonics brand, and these gauges are not new; they're already available since a while.
Can't comment on them, though.

Yes, exactly. It's the nylons I'm interested in.

I gave the Presto UL a try a while ago. They were very low tension, easy on the fingers and easy to play, but I did not care for the skinny G string and they sounded very twangy. They are a popular string for slap players due to their very low tension, and can be used with a magnetic pickup due to their metal core.

If you like a bright sounding, very low tension string you might like them.

I tried the Ultra lights a while back and hated them. Easy on the fingers but all around crappy tone. Twangy and flubby at the same time and a weird papery sound against the fingerboard. Bowing was terrible. The only thing these strings are good for is slapping. They only stayed on my bass for a week, a new low for me. I have the Innovation rockabillys on now. Much better all around for pizz and slap, they even bow okay but not great. I'd go with them.

I don't think anyone should expect any nylon wound string to bow well. Goes without saying.

I didn't care too much for the Prestos, either, but they weren't what I would call horrible.

I guess i shouldn't say I hated them, I did like the feel. I just think the innovation's are a much better string if you had to pick between them. Very similar feel but better tone and bowing. If you use a magnetic pickup but want to slap they're probably the way to go.
