Quick Question
Do you have to wipe down the strings
after you use them to remove the
excess rosin left on the strings.

You don't have to do this every single time you play, but it's a reasonably good idea from time to time. It's also a good idea to wipe down the upper part of the strings and the fingerboard to remove finger grease every now and again.
