retightening strings
I've heard that certain strings lose some of their sound if you loosen them and then reinstall. I have Obligatos on my Grunert. I want to try a Realist pu, but am worried about damaging the strings. Any thoughts?

Obligatos will definitely lose some punch if you detension them, but it may not be a huge problem if you like a dark thumpy sound.

I found that the arco response suffers more. They like to squawk and bitch after retensioning...
