Rotosound RS4000

Anyone have any experience of Rotosound double bass strings? RS4000 I think they are - I need some new and there's some on ebay, I always use rotosound on my electric basses, but not a make I've ever associated with db strings really.

I play with my fingers and rarely with a bow.

Any advice gratefully received, cheers

Those are very popular for slap / rockabilly due to their low tension. They are metal-flatwound on the E&A, and nylon wound on the D&G I believe, nylon core. Not good for arco, and some may find them too low tension for Jazz pizz playing.

For slap, they are good strings.

These bear no resemblance to your ebass strings.
They're the lowest tension strings I've ever tried, and to me sound like rubber bands.
They are, absolutely. among the favourites for slapping, as they are so easy to play, and sound gut-like as they hit the fingerboard. Good chunky thunk and click.
But as for response... tone ... articulation ... bite ... sustain ... growl... forget it.
None of those qualities are things the Rotos score highly on.
Plus i think it feels weird switching between the narrow steel wound E/A and the thick nylon D/G. Plenty of people disagree with me.
They have their place, but I'm definitely not a fan.
