Sensicore Opinions

I'm currently on my second set of Velvets this year, and I just noticed that the G string is unwinding. I began with Garbos, and broke the A string after about 7 months, and now the Animas is about to go.

I'm really in love with the sound of Velvet strings, but I just can't afford to buy three sets in one year!

Anyway, how are the sensicores? I just purchased a set without doing much research. Are they comparable to Spirocores?

Sensicores

Like all strings ...it will depend on the bass.
The Sensicores have a nylon/perlon type of core so you can't compare them to steel core strings.
I tried a G and D Sensicore a few years ago on a Kay and they sounded dead.
Another guy I know who has an old carved bass loved them.
Let us know what you think when you get them.

The design of the Sensicores has been changed in the last years.
I have a new G here, and it has no similarities with the old one, which was thick and dead.
The new one is very thin, and sings like an Obligato.
I don't know about the other strings though.

Now why did I know you would probably weigh in here with all of the latest information
Corelli 370 thin or Spiro Weich thin?

Have they changed the core material too?

Martin.

Hi martin.
I'm not exactly sure what you're asking. (probably just joking?)
I don't think they changed anything in the Corelli and Spiros.

Sorry for not being clear.
How thin is the new Sensicore G? Is it like the Corelli 370 G?

Also...how is the Sensicore tension? Is it the same as the Obligato G?
I may have to try one myself now that they have changed.

Hi Martin.
I'd say Corelli thin, so very thin, which puzzled me.
Instead of a solid perlon core, this is a multi-filament one, and the metal must be heavier, to get a thinner string. (the previous design was using aluminum I think)

Addition: the tension is lighter than the Obligato. Of course the tone is also thinner and brighter. Not gut-like at all. (still only talking for the G string)
