That sounds sensible....I used to do that " jazz cello " thing back in the Late 50's/early 60's when everybody and his brother were doing it, but we all just used regular cello strings and tuned them down or up. Of course, we didn't have the options in strings that we do now.
And, as always, in my opinion, the only two jazz cello players ( using fourth tuning) that I could stand, were Oscar Pettiford and Red Mitchell.
After checking your profile Jeff, I see that you're using an electric cello so take what I say with a grain of salt because it also looks like you're using a bow.......
