solo permanents for pizz?

so i have reg permanents on my bass now for pizz and i like them alot, but after playing a few other basses this week im thinking it could be alittle easier to play (kind of high tension). are solo permanents viable for pizz? are they too floppy? how is the sound?

anyone know?

thanks

They're nice, but the "E" (F#) may be too floppy though.
But the other ones are ok. (you may want to raise the action a bit though)

I've tried a solo G when I was using corellis. I thought it was fine for bowing or pizz, but I don't do that now.

I have permanent solos on right now. Yes, I like them VERY much for jazz (in orchestral, low tension tuning), but I've noticed that they do not cut it for serious arco playing/orchestral work because of pitch modulation. The pitch modulates noticeablely when playing any kind of dynamic contrast because of the low tension.

Because of their brightness in combination with the lower tension, I think they make a superb jazz string (even though they are not known by far as a purely jazz string) if you don't do orchestral work. The non-solo medium permanents are too stiff for jazz in my opinion but both solo and orchestral permanents makes great arco strings when at their appropriate tunings.

I've heard that spirocore weichs might be a better fit, but you might have the same problem with pitch modulation in arco--but I don't know.
