solo use orchestral tuning strings

I will be performing a classical solo recital on my bass, and have found that my current set of strings are not cutting it. They seem pretty dark and a little muddy, and I was wondering if a brighter set of strings might be able to project more.

I have a set of Thomastik Spirocore solos that I might throw on, but I was worried the tension would be too low because I am playing the recital at orchestra pitch. Any recommendations on a set of strings that would be able to project a bit better?

Here is what I have now:
E-Pirastro Permanent Extended E
A-Pirastro Flatchrome Original
D-Pirastro Flatchrome Original
G-Pirastro Flexocor Original

thanks.
Theo

Theodore, please first note I'm a pizz only player.

The solo Spiros are fine at orchestra pitch, I have three of them on my EUB right now and they're just fine.

However, for arco work, I think I'd suggest Corellis.
My favorite Corelli set is the 380M.
Nickel wound, medium tension.
They're very easy to play, have a clear yet warm tone, and I hear they bow like a dream.
Like most strings, they sound brighter for the first two weeks.

Hope this helps!
François
