| Standard tuning, or orchestral tuning, strings are what bassists usually use. The strings are, from lowest to highest, E-A-D-G.
Solo tuning strings are used by soloists because the solo doublebass music use this specific tuning. Why, I cannot say, but there must be a reason.
Anyway, solo strings are tuned one step above orchestral tuning strings, and are, from lowest to highest, F#-B-E-A.
