Sound difference between Weichs and Solos (tuned to Orchestra)

I read the Mittel/weich thread, but am more curious about the difference between the weichs and the solos. Mittels sound too much like a fretless bass

Most likely less volume, less fundamental frequency.

However you get a brighter more complex tone.

Even though Ive always found them to be quiter than the heavier spiros, IMO the solos amplify the best. I use a full circle and the tone is very round and puffy like people aim for with gut strings. But I can also go for a more metallic sounding EUB tone as well.

Excellent, Chris!

Okay, my bass has no frets and doesn't sound like it does.
Mittels give it that classic sound so many of us have come to know and love. No way it even approaches a fretless electric. Perish the thought!

Let's remember that THEOLDGUY put those SMittels on his bass during the Garfield administration or something like that and they are seriously broken in!
