spirocore weich tuned in 5th !!!!

hi to all ,
i wan to change my bass string from d'addario orchestra to thomastik spirocore weich ,
i change the d'addario because it hasn't a bad sound , but because i have a diapason of 112 cm , so d'addario are too short because are made for 106 cm diapason i bent 2 bridge and is heavy to play at high position !!!!

i like to know :

if the spirocore wiech are suitable in both pizz and arco situation!

i also want to switch the pitch from EAGD to CGDA using the 3986,0w set someone had made this experience ? what is is your impression ?

Depending on your needs and who you ask, spirocore weichs are good strings for both pizz and arco. If you are primarily a pizz player who uses the bow secondarily, I think they are great strings. If you are primarily an orchestra player, it is a matter of preference and they may or may not be.

As for 5ths tuning, there is a Spirocore set made specifically for that purpose and I would think that you would want to purchase them if you intend to tune in 5ths.

Good luck.

Smile Spirocore vs D'Addario

I have used Spirocore Weichs for over 25 years. I like them alot. I recently tried the D'Addario Helicore Bass Pizzicato Light Tension. I mention this because you said you used them also. The Spirocore string is a great all around string, but I have grown to really like the above D'Addario string. They were recommended to me for great note sustain in jazz work, but also were not as bright sounding arco as the Spirocore was. They play softer to the touch than the Weichs to me. If you like D'Addrio, try the Pizzicato set above. They are also about $20.00 less than most strings..Hope this helps..
