String ID ?

It seems that I "may" have dominants on my bass - the nice site http://www.quinnviolins.com/stringidfier.htm says that a string with purple at each end is likely to be a set of dominants.

I am a little sceptical as the bass is (a nicely done) carved 4/4 5 string from Jin yin (China). Aparrently their luxury model. He he. Would they fit thomastic as factory strings?? Hard to believe.

Do you have any hints for me to determine the lineage of these mystery strings I have? They seem powerful (I play mostly arco) and don't require a very high action at all which is nice, but are quite scratchy on the G and D which has had me change rosin to a less grippy formula. Still playing them in (2 months now) and need a little nip to tighten every now and then. I will try and get a photo of them uploaded soon if that helps.

A pic would very helpful. I really love the Doms for pizz.-- not so much for arco. The reason I don't use them anymore is because of the breakage issues that I (and many others) had. You can find info about that via a search here.

Please include the strings balls in the pics.
They often say as much as the silk colors!

Ah.

Now wallowing in self pity and a little embarrassed as well.

I remembered the purple, but not the rainbow of other colours. It sems I have not got dominants after all (sniff).

I don't really want to waste anyones valuable time here, but any idea what these are?? I'll just settle with them being cheap strings and aim to replace them as soon as my budget allows.
