String length and gauge

As i mentioned in my last post (Recommend me some strings) I am new to URB. The results from that post lead towards buying some Spirocores. Just need to know how I work out which length and is a medium gauge the best (i have strong fingers!). I was looking at the Thomastik website and it had like 110cm Medium, 104-106cm medium etc etc. My bass is full size and has solid top, back and sides but is only a cheapish Chinese made one.

Thanks!

PS Also there is styles called Orchester, Solo, Quintestimmung etc, any help there?!

Orchestra means regular tuning eg E A D G
Solo-tuning is a whole step above eg F# B E A
Quintestimmung means fifth tuning eg C G D A
Red Mitchell was playing in fifth tuning and this set is sometimes called the Red Mitchell set.
