String & Set Up for American Standard

I recently made a deal for a very old(late 20's) American Standard bass. After a new fingerboard and a few other fixes are done, I will begin the quest for the right strings and such. Maybe Arnold can weigh in on this, since he's all over that neck of the woods. I've been using Obligatos on my carved Kolstein(and previous bass) with good success and would like to use a hybrid string on this bass which will be my road back-up instrument. I would welcome advice from those with experience with this bass.

Thanks, Ike

My American Standard has had Obligatos on for awhile. The bass got more lively than with the Helicore Orchestras I had on before that...more clarity, but maybe not quite the depth. Still...the Obligatos sound good on it.
