Lightbulb Strings for acoustic bass

Hi, I'm an old classical double bass player that wound up in a wheelchair.
Playing Bach chello solos on an acoustic bass and not happy with the sound my fingers make when changing positions. Are you aware of any inexpensive strings that might help...other suggestions?
Tahnk you,
Deside

Sounds like maybe some flatwounds would do you good I'm no expert but maybe you can research some chromes. I use them because of having the same problem. D'darios are the best place to start.(don't trust my spelling)

Flatwounds are your best bet. They definitely produce much less finger noise than rounds, and one set can last for years, so you don't have to worry about string costs so much.

As far as specific strings go, Fender 9050M flats are my preferred load on my electric basses; they have an old school sound, medium to firm tension, and a reasonable price tag. Unfortunately, I have no idea how they would do on an acoustic bass. You may need to try a few different brands to find what works for you.

Hope that helps.

Acoustic bass guitar?
If so, I'll move this to the other side of the forum. (the BG side)

I agree that the new Fender flats, in 40-95, or even 45-105 if your neck and top can handle the tension, may be just what you're looking for. They have more character to the tone than D'addarios. Good luck.

DOH! I didn't even realize this was a DB post. I saw "acoustic bass" and answered it like a bass guitar question. Sorry.
