Strings for Magnetic pickups

Anyone have an updated list of strings that can be used with a Magnetic pickup? AFAIK, that means steel core, unless some of you have found synthetic cores that work.

I should add: I'm looking for an old school, gut sound but the string needs some steel core. Obligato's fit the bill, but, any other suggestions?

I use Flexocor solos. They sound really good with a mag. They have the closest gut sound in a steel string.

Jargars will work too, and they're very dark.
