Strunals?

Hi all,

I found a set of Strunal strings in a locel store for a insanely low price like 60$ a set. Are they crap or wordh their weight in gold?

Danko

They probably only worth what they sell for!
The only cheap (affordable) string I know that's good quality is the Corelli nickels.

Strunal Strings

I think we have chatted about these strings before.

They are just ok. They are on the thin side, good for pizz but not good for bowing. They are very flimsy feeling. My Strunal bass I bought new came with them and I changed them after a couple of months to a set of slightly used Pirrastro Flatchromesteels, which sound great on my Strunal by the way.

For $60 you can pick up a slightly used set of better strings off this site.

Check the classifieds. There is always somebody selling a set.

Thanks. Flimsy eh? Well, I thought I'd buy them and have them for spare... maybe.

Re: used strings... I live in Croatia, so shipping fee usually doubles the price listed on forum(s). Then there is customs, and 22% tax. Ugh.

STRUNAL strings have a low tension, so they can hardly resonate the bass body. As my luthier says:They play by "themselves", not "with" the bass. I do not recommend them for regular playing. They are sold as "student strings".

Thanks. I won't buy them then. I don't like thin strings.

I bought a Strunal bass...a "Josef Jan Dvorak" full sized, ply bass. I love it...but don't know what strings are on it. Does anyone what strings the bass comes with out of the shop? Strunal perhaps?
thanks.

I had to borrow a brand new strunal bass from a hichschool recently for Orchestra of America. The strings that came with it were strunals. They're basically the worst string I've ever played. I would change them as soon as possible. Then again, if you like the sound, the shop may have used something different since I can't possibly fathom why anyone would like the sound of strunals trings.
