super silvers

I just got my set in the mail today. I'm a jazz guy only gig-wise playing a strunal and I've been looking for something gut feeling and sounding with a little more of the sustain and mwah of metal. These so far seem like the closest to that that I've seen or played. They're great low tension but still loud. They definatley have much better sustain than the Olives that I put on the bass when I bought it. Also they play great and are very comfortable compared to the wiechs I had on the bass. They're also cheap mine only ended up being 130 with 3 day shipping from lemur. I haven't really done much arco with them yet.
Anyways I've got a practice tommorow for a gig coming up. I'll be sure to let you know how they work out generally and arco and if possible I'll try to record some stuff.

Super silvers

Thanks and please post your opinions on these- I'm looking for a more bowable replacement for my Weichs, too.
These super silvers do sound interesting...

Hello Clay Bass .... for what it's worth I have been using (pizz only) SS strings for about 5 months now and generally like 'em a lot. I did end up changing out the A & E for Dominants after about 3 months. Here's what I said in the Dominants Mega-Thread discussion:

I wasn't thrilled with the "flubby" SS A & E though so I went on the prowl. Based on what Papa previously reported, I decided I wanted to try the Doms and bought new A & E strings from a fellow TalkBasser and put them on. They are synthetics (non-steel) and supposedly "gut-like." So far they sound good, more voice, stiffer (but low tension like Weichs), more front-end attack, definitely better than the SS. I haven't had them on very long (3 weeks) or played them enough yet. However, the E already seems to be what I was looking for. The A sounds kinda guitar-like played open but the closed low B and C are quite nice. Gotta give em more time I think.
P.S. Watch out for rough spots in your nut and/or bridge grooves .... and it is probably best not to subject the SS strings to many on-off cycles. I had the outer plastic wrap / winding come apart on my E string .. still usable but tough on the fingers .

I'm not sure if you know this but they are way closer to gut than wiechs. They're a synthetic string but feel and sound very close to gut.

I really have no problem with my E and A. they're really well defined and sound great for a "gut" E and A.

It doesn't seem like I'll need to. I'm liking the E and A.

I've done all my arco warm ups and bowing stuff as best as my crappy bowing abilities allow and they are amazing for what they are. Really great sounding for a fake gut string.
