superflexispiropirazzi!

hey all

first post from a longtime lurker...

i have an old little french bass with extension. at the moment it has flexocor original (i think?!i'm not really a string-head.all purple at the tailpiece). I need a change. I play orchestral concerts as much as jazz and shows and anything anyone will pay me for really. my bass is quite dark sounding anyway.

I was thinking of putting a spiro mittel low c on (are these prone to breaking?). the A on my bass can be a bit weedy so i need something with a bit of power behind it. My other bass has all superflexibles and i like them. my question (eventually)....
has anyone mixed superflex, spiro and evah pirazzi together? how would it be tension and diameter-wise?

I am aware that there are comparison charts but they are just numbers really compared to a humans opinion.

any other advice would be appreciated. i have to do it in the next week while it's at the bass hospital for minor repairs.

cheers

You should know, that Thomastik Extension strings have higher Tension, than the normal E. The Weich E/C has almost the tension of the Mittel E, while the Mittel E/C has the same tension as the Stark E. I think they mathed the tension to the B string of the same set.
