Is there a string like spiro solos, at orchestra pitch?

So Ive recently put weichs back on, the A D & G which are working well for arco, but Im missing the brightness of the solos for pizz.

From what I remember of dissecting a weich, it has more dampening material than the solos do, explaining why they go dead faster.

Pizz was great with the solos tuned down, but they were too low tension for arco when tuned down. Tuned up to solo pitch they sounded great, but obviously I need regular pitch.

So Im looking for something similar to solos, just tuned at orchestra pitch.

I would think that Corellis would be worth a try, based on what you described.

Tiny bit, some white nylon looking fibres woven onto the rope core.

Theyre a bit too "spiroey" when it comes to arco for my liking. I know that probably sounds weird. The tones a bit too strange for me once youre up in thumb position.

Ack, Ive just put my solos into a zip lock bag of denatured alcohol to let them clean for a few days. I may yet go running back to them

Get spiro meds. Stop whining and play them in til the zing goes away.

I took mine off/on a few times and it helped a bit.

I suspect moles is picking on your choice of words J, dampening means it makes things wet, the strings have damping

Haha - I hadn't noticed that either...
I was just curious - every DB string I have, I have some small urge to chop up and take a look inside to see what's in there - they're expensive so the only one I've Sacrificed to Curiosity was a G string out of a set of these gawd awful Black Diamond strings I got in a trade.

I prefer the nickels, they are warmer sounding.
But to each his own!
