Too Many "Sticky" String Threads?

The "stickies" now take up half the first page. Is it possible to consolidate a few of these?

For example, couldn't the "Megathreads" for five or six types of strings be consolidated into one "String Brands Megathreads" sticky?

Several others could be consolidated into a "String Test and Comparison" Sticky.

Most of the rest could be consolidated into a "Basic String Info Topics" sticky.

That would considerably de-junk the page.

This is really Francois' call, as he's the chief mod of this forum. If it were me, I'd probably do a single "Links to specific string type threads" thread with links to all those string threads inside. Keep in mind, however, that putting together these links threads take time, and time is something that not all of Us have a lot of.

I think the Stickys are fine just like they are.
Most newbies and even older members don't bother with reading them. (IMO). Talk about saving everybody time.

If I were a Mod I'd be in a straight jacket in a dark corner somewhere by now.

Sorry for the derail. To get the thread back on track, it's really Francois' call as to how to organize the forum.

Good idea!
I created a new sticky with links to the unstuck ones.

Hope this is okay for everybody!

Best regards,
François

I liked it the other way. Would you please put it back?

Really, thanks for taking the time to clean it up, although I was just fine with it.

Why does every "megathread" need to be a "sticky" thread? If there's interest in the thread, it will float to the top by itself. If not, let the market decide.

I love them gut threads.... but that makes sense to me.

I suppose the downside is that The Elders will have to continue to steer newbs towards the existing threads.

Maybe someone will invent some forum software where if a newbster asks something along the lines of "where can I buy sliced bread?" and clicks the "post thread" button, it'll automatically take them to the newbie thread. And then maybe hell will freeze over.

Hmmm....sounds like a concise description of the 'Search' function!

Poor 'Search' button, sitting all alone and collecting dust up there in north east cornerville.

BULL****! YOU are the first one to mention a gag ball on these pages.
Now look what you've done to Bobby.
