What kind of string?

My strings are starting to die so I need new strings but something that is more dark sounding than twangy, for both arco and pizz. I'm looking for a Paul Chambers kind of tone.

Paul Chambers played gut strings AFAIK. a search of the forum will get you more info, also which non-gut strings will get you there if you prefer not to play gut.
from the strings I tried the obligatos had the most gut-like tone IMO, but as they have their issues (I didn´t like their loose feel on the fingers and bow, after 1 year they are dead).

Are you still looking for sugestions?
As vier-personen said, PC was playing on gut strings.
Do you want steel or something else?
Your profile (thanks!) says you're playing on Dominants.
Other similar synthetic core strings include Pirastro Obligatos, Kolstein Heritage, Super-Sensitive Sensicores.
But they're all relatively short lived.
