They came in different colors, like blue with a yellow twirled thread wrapped up it. And this one which is purple with a silver back and purple wrapped thread.
Has anyone ever seen these? I like them but I have no idea what kind they are.

There's also a nifty color-decoder here: http://www.quinnviolins.com/qv_stringidsearch.shtml
Or maybe the Pirastro site, if those are they: http://www.pirastro.com/pdf/08-11+12...el_Strings.pdf
Those might be Original Flat-Chromes perhaps, or the could be a few other things, based on what you have shown us. For me, its hard to see the colors in your photo. You also have to look at the peg end's color.
Again, review earlier threads. The "search" function is a good thing for all.

One of my 'cello teachers used to refer to it as the "nutbox," which also may be apt, in certain cases...
What does your teacher say? |

And while I've never seen or played Heritages before, I have played Kolstein Varicores for a while. Varicores look similar, except they are purple on the large stripes and yellow on the smaller stripes.

Please review at least some of them, before asking others to reinvent the wheel for you, again, redundantly, for a second time, repeatedly, over and over.
This is a great starting point: Newbie Links: STRINGS
I certainly don't mean to be churlish, but I would respectfully and gently encourage you to do a bit more homework here, out of respect for others' time and energy. The "search" function on this site yields results that are often wide-ranging, occasionally deep, and usually entertaining. While it may take a few moments more of your own time to actually look something up, I have found it fruitful. Hope that this helps.

Then, do the same thing with Pirastro Flat Chromes.
Then, go to Ken Smith's site and review his orchestral string threads: http://smithbassforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=39
The links I have posted head you into the hundreds of string discussions that have preceded both of us.
Hope that this helps. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
