What should you do with strings that have a lot of silk damage
I have some Spirocore strings that are supposed to have been used for roughly a year but the silks are very very damaged and on some strings nearly non-existant. I've just taken off my Belcanto's that are nearly a year old and the silks are perfect.
Anyways, is it a bad idea to put the string on that has nearly no silk on it? The silks at the ball are rough but still exist, it's the silk at the peg box end that are all sorts of messed up. Is it fine to put them on, or does lack of silk cause problems?
