what string combination?

I was using Thomastik Spirocore Solo on my 3/4 bass, and now I'm using a D'Addario Helicore Jazz/Pizz Light set.
I use Underwood pickups connected to a Fishman Platinum Pro-EQ pre-amp.
I always felt that with Underwood, even connected to the Fishman, the E and A strings have a powerful sound and sustain; the D and G strings sound good but with a sound not too powerful as the other two strings, mainly in the upper register above the IV position. I don't know if it's due to the frequency response of the Underwood, but I can't find an equalization to get a good balance between all the notes in the bass range.
Could anyone give me an advice about string combination? Or can I solve this in setting my bass, as for example, moving the sound post?

If you haven't done this before, and if it's due to the strings, it might be worth trying a medium D and G instead of the light. You could try the Spiro Mittels on the D and G and see how you like them (I mention these because I've used them, and I know a lot of people who have used them and liked them). I used to have the Spiro Weichs (light), and I felt the same way you do playing without an amp, so I switched to Mediums and felt a lot better.

E que legál ver um outro Brasileiro aquí no Talk Bass. Eu nascí nos EUA, mais quando éra mais jóvem, viví em São Paulo por uns seis anos.

sergio,

we have the same signal chain basically. the university uses a hartke 12 kickback also.

large 3/4 bass with Spirocore Mittels with a Superflexible G. Underwood + Fishman Platinum.
i'm pretty happy with the sound when i set it flat and cut a little mid.

however, i like my MB better.

you might want to talk to your luthier and let him know about the unevenness in sound. The bass tends to contract in the cold (i think) and if the soundpost is too tight the sound will change. Bill Merchant probably will end up fitting a winter soundpost for me to deal with the climate change in the coming months in New York.

Estou escutando o jogo da seleção contra o Equador... O Vágner Love marcou um no primeiro tempo... bota um máis no gol!
