Who Doesn't Smell a Rat?

What a coincidence!
At least 4 posters all joined TB on the same day, all coincidentally show no profiles, and all coincidentally posted at least a half a dozen times, at coincidentally the same time of night, on every string thread, about "Superior Sound Strings".
Sheer marketing genius. Not.

Quick show of hands...

Can anyone think of a better, faster way to turn your product into something universally reviled than what this guy did? Would anyone here even CONSIDER using SUPERIOR SOUNDING STRINGS now? Even if they were free? Even if the guy hand delivered them to your house, had David Gage himself install them for you and then washed your car, topped off it's tank, cooked you a nice meal and brought along a really hot chick to...err...seal the...uh...to...um...ok we'll leave the last one to your imagination...but, seriously??

Well, ok. I MIGHT consider them if he did all of that but I'd have him put them on my back up bass.

I wake up on a nice Sunday morning still glowing from a great double header of gigs from the night before. I pop into Talkbass to see if anyone has posted something insightful about the strings they are using and I'm accosted by a commercial. A lame, poorly written commercial about a set of strings with the WORST name I could imagine a bad set of strings to have. "SUPERIOR SOUND STRINGS" screams "CHEAP CRAPPY STRINGS" in American advertising speak. And this lame commercial is spread out over multiple threads by the same obvious semi-literate bozo using multiple screen names all created today.

Dude, you cramped my Sunday.

The four of them were banned now. (probably the same person behind them)
Send me a PM if we forgot to delete a post. (there were a lot of them...)

Case closed now.

Thanks for the reports!

Best regards,
François

Actually, the moderators did these jerks a huge favor by deleting their crap before all of TalkBass could see it. The roof would have fallen in on these lame fools. And the latest stunt, pretending to be someone else, fraudulently suggesting that the original fraud was the work of an "over excited retailer" just confirms how dumb these people are.

I wasn't buying that last post. What a coincidence! The guy just happens to join yesterday and posts about the same strings but knocking those lame retailers who were out of line. Yeah, uh-huh, sure. The profile smelled phony as well.

I tracked down this photo of the last guy for DURRL, which led to the thread being cleaned.

You know, I don't think that alienating themselves from the tiny corner of the double bass strings market who reads TalkBass is going to hurt them at all, I'm sure there are up to and including a dozen other people in the world to try to sell their strings to.

I think we're quite relaxed-- just having fun with it at this point.

I did discover another bass chat room that wasn't reacting (delete "at all") quite the way the small group of us at TB did. But, that's why I'm here, not there. Anyway, by context, I picked up more prevaricating (I said that just to make them go to the dictionary. You know they're monitoring this thread.) on their part.

Edited 10/18/10.

Are you saying that they care enough or are bright enough to use a dictionary?

Saying that they're prevaricating is being too nice. I find them to be mendacious.
