Zyex Medium Tension Strings This is a great forum and I appreciate all that I am able to read and learn from everyone. Thank you. Now, a little giving back. I just put on a set of Zyex in medium tension and am really liking them. There is a bit of a break-in time so do not plan on anything less than three days of heavy playing before they stay fully in tune. And, once they tune up, they do not need a lot of babying...they really do hold their own. The feel as these strings are fingered is nice, easy and smooth. The volume on my bass (a Shen SB 90) is projective and full. The G string has a bit of a jazz feel in playability and tone. Overall, a nice set of strings. After a week of playing they are what I was looking for in terms of bluegrass. But, if you are a jazz player, they would really fill the bill. My understanding is that they will perform well with changing weather conditions so I am hopeful. Hey, give em a try. Doyle |
Nice. I like them too. |
I agree. I have a set of lights on my Strunal, very easy to play, nice smooth sound with a good growl when I dig in. Stays in tune forever through all sorts of climate changes. Surprisingly loud as well given the low tension and they have a top end that helps cut through in the mix, I've played it with a 9 piece and a power trio, never a problem being heard with a realist and small combo amps. |
