As much as I like the folks at ThePerfectBass.com they seem to only be offering 10% on most things for their Fall '11 sale. Of course, you can trying price matching MFs sale with who ever for an even better deal. Think I'll grab me a Boss RC-3 from Sweetwater. Some really cool folks over there

It seems like they try to keep it on the DL but, yeah, they do. There's a sales guy I've ordered a bunch of stuff from over the past few months and I asked him to match a GC coupon a few days ago and he did it no sweat. I'll be calling him again pretty soon

It says item must be at least $199 and many manufacturers are excluded, including Boss. Just fyi.

Guys,

Just today I closed a deal with Skaught (pronounced "Scott"). He gave me exceptional customer service, an unbelievably good price and with no time pressure to make a decision. He was very helpful when I changed my mind about an item.

I don't want to get into the details but he BEAT the 15% deal that was in place at the time by quite a bit. He responded super fast to all e-mails ("forums@musiciansfriend.com").

I'll still buy used most all the time but when buying new in the future I know "forums@musiciansfriend.com" will be one of my first stops now.

If you are buying new, i recommend at least checking here first.

I just got an awesome deal from Skaught. Even after I already purchased something from MF at their price match offer he gave me an even better deal and then gave me credit for the difference.

I also contacted Skaught via email. I was able to get a Squier Matt Freeman Precision, Fender Deluxe gig bag, and 2 day shipping (it was free regular shipping but I paid to upgrade to 2 day)......all for less than their regular street price for just the bass. Can't wait for it to arrive.

I think GC and MF should actually have a "Best Basses for Metal"
section.

I know its a old joke but...maybe still funny enough to make people take it serious and laugh enough...to where it might actually sell a few more basses.

then at least when someone asks we could just place a link like this
and say hey this is the best bass for metal

10% off is the oldest one in the book basically like getting a item tax free with a additional 3 to 4%........no big dealy

almost all music stores will match GC, MF price. Its been accepted as the ~~poorest business practice, cut rate price~~
low price standard for years now

Well, I heard back from MF. It wasn't Skaught who answered my email (even though I addressed it to him) and the lady that did answer it, offered me a GREAT deal. Follow this:

I included a link in my email to a used item I wanted, which was obviously less than a new one. Well, her offer for this item was for $0.59 more than what it was advertised at!

What a great deal, huh? I mean, why pay the advertised price when you can pay $0.59 more my just asking for a better deal?

Maybe she didn't look at my link at all and reduced the price off of a new one, I don't know. I replied to her offer and informed her that she apparently didn't look at my link. Haven't heard back.

Not sure what is going on, but i would try again.

I have placed orders twice with Skaught and the worst deal i got was 20% off.

I didn't include any price match links at all.

Try just using a subject like TalkBass forums, and include a link to this thread.

Did you include something like "Price Match" in the subject? maybe they have some auto routing email rules and maybe Skaught didn't even see it.

When i sent my emails, my subject read only "TalkBass Forums" and contained a link to this thread, no price matching links. I just had links to the products on the MF site asking Skaught for the best possible price.
