I don’t know if this applies to all the GC. I went yesterday to the GC at Tacoma WA. They had the Mogami cables on clearance. I ask the sales person and they told me that Guitar Center are clearing the Mogami cables, because they are not going to sale them any more. Again I don’t know if this applies to all GC but, I bought a Mogami Platinum 20Ft cable for $99 they usually run for $164

Since it was a Monster cable it of course crapped out at 3 months or so and thankfully the GC I bought it from allowed me to swap it for some $50 Mogamis. The Mogami cables haven't let me down since and it has been 5 years of heavy use (I never wrap them, they're constantly stepped on). I don't know about the $150 offerings they have except that every high end studio in the area uses them, but I would recommend to everyone picking up their $50 ones if there is a sale on them. |

| | | | This is going to get into a p i s s i n match. Cables make a difference. If you can't hear it fine. Just don't insult those of us who do appreciate a good cable and the difference it makes in your sound and the dependability of the product.

Any decent cable should make a minimal difference. I have a couple of (medium level) Mogamis, a couple of Monsters, and a bunch of Planet Waves. There might be some sonic differences, but the day-to-day changes in humidity in the air probably makes about as much difference. Maybe I have terrible ears, but I don't think so.
I will spend $50 for a cable, but for me, $100 is getting to be not enough potential bang for the buck. |

| | | EWI GBNC Guitar Cables
I’ve read probably hundreds of the owner’s posts over the years, as he’s an active member on various pro-sound forums (and a bass player, no less). I can call and speak to the man in Farmington WA USA who assembled my cables (that I’ve bought from him so far as I’m gradually replacing ALL my cables with EWIs), backs them, and puts reputation and livelihood is on the line.
When I’m setting up the band, five/eight times per month, full PA and everything miced or DIed, and I have a problem, I’m pissed off, and the “warranty” doesn’t even get CLOSE to making me feel any better.
I (finally) replaced all my XLRs including for the LED lighting with EWIs, and not a problem with that since.
I just (finally) ordered two EWI 24-ft premium instrument cables for myself with Nutrik ends, one with the silentPLUG, and one without. "The ends are hand assembled and soldered on the cable here at Audiopile in the USA."
Both for $48 + shipping. I could have spent less, I could have spent FAR more, but I’m as happy as can be, ‘cause I know I got the best cables, and I paid for the best cables, and not a penny for gimmicks and marketing hype.
That’s *my* definition of “value”.

That’s *my* definition of “value”. | Exactly right. The caveat I'll add is that for everyone there is a different scale of value received. For some people it's "does the cable work reliably night after night". For some it's "does the cable reject all noise". For some it's "does the cable affect (or not affect) the highs in a way that sounds pleasing to me". And in some cases the way to get "all of the above" is to pay a premium.
But not a penny for the extra BS hype that cable vendors spew around! |

I'm on my fourth 12' monster bass cable but I've only paid for it once. the cables are worth it for the guarantee alone. |

but most of their offerings are priced as usual and don't appear to be going anywhere.
And like Monster you can swap them out anywhere, anytime from anybody who carries Mogami...you just won't have to |

This includes Monster, Mogami, Planet Waves, and probably whatever cheapos they sell also. That's a good thing, but it has nothing to do with any particular brand. |
