rebate says "New In Box", there is some risk with a refurb...

MF only lists the rebates next to the non-refurb ones....why were so many XTI's refurbed? What happened?

It seems to show the rebate for both versions on my computer. I believe the refurbs are because the older design had some issues, which were later resolved. These are probably old versions with the original issues corrected (just my guess!).

Regardless, if they won't give me the rebate, or if the amp seems to have some issues, I'll just return it.

most merchants won't return a box w/no UPC fyi, and what is GC's return window? i'm sure less than 6-8 week rebate waiting period....
