| | | | I’m gonna tell ya, playing fivers has saved me a lot of money, and this is just one example why.
That, and in natural… no possible way I could have resisted that.

| | | | Ah… not the natural one.
Just as well... 38mm nut, not sure I could handle that.

| | | Rather than regurgitate everything here, I'll just link to the thread I started on TheFret.net. I've got pics and a quickie clip too. NBD(S)! ESP LTD Surveyor 414
The pics, et al, start at post #19 in that thread.

And, I’m not familiar with that forum, but it seems like a nice place. Maybe I’ll join up.

Anyway, electronics, build quality, and ebony fingerboard are great! I'm returning the 5 and getting a 4 in ebony...now that the naturals are all sold out (D'oh!). Guitar Center is running a 15 percent discount on items over $299 through labor day (Code LABOR15), so these are $254 before tax! |

I don't know much about these basses, but $274 (w/coupon) was irresistable. I'll report on it when received. I hear it's a bit heavy, but we'll see. Anyone out there ever use ESPs fior classic rock? Just wondering.

I've been looking for a versatile active bass, one that can handle all the tones my passive basses don't cover, from Fugazi-like stingray tones (I know it won't be dead on, but that's ok) to some heavy metal grind. With the MM and P style pups, coil tapping, and the preamp, I'm looking forward to tone-hunting with this bad boy. Most of the labor day coupons aren't working on this (understandably), but GC's 15% does... knocked it down to 255, plus CA sales tax it was about $275. I mean, if I hate it I can easily flip this thing and come out ahead. Thanks for sharing the deal!

| | Maharajah Endorsing: SIT, Eastwood, Hanson | | Join Date: Feb 2007 Location: Hollywood, CA | | | Just arrived! Gotta say, I was nervous to get an Indonesian bass sight unseen, but this thing is KILLER. Gorgeous slim neck, doesn't feel cheap the way my Squier '51 guitar does, rather it feels similar to my Reverend guitar and some Lakland basses I've tried. It's a satin finish neck, and it plays fantastic. Frets feel nice, general setup is solid -- might need an intonation adjustment, but nothing major. Electronics sound really good so far... I'm new to EMG's, but I'm digging what I'm hearing. Definitely a baked-in sound, but I could make this work for anything I'd need it to. At $700, this bass would be versatile, well-built, and worth the money. At the $254 + tax that I paid this is an absolute no-brainer. I was expecting something akin to the Ibanez ATK 305 I bought several months ago, but this far exceeds that bass in almost every way, fit & finish, playability and tone included. BUY ONE.
